The Victorian Government is backing more local women and girls to get involved in community sport and recreation.

Applications for the Change Our Game Community Action Grants are now open. Grants are available for amounts up to $10,000 and closes on March 6th.

Offered through the Office for Women in Sport and Recreation, the grants help local sport clubs and eligible organisations run initiatives that promote participation by women and girls.

The grants also help build capability, equity and leadership at grassroots level.

Now in its sixth year, the Program has already funded activations and events at more than 350 organisations across the state.

One such initiative includes a club that prides itself on being an unbiased and welcoming organisation, embracing members of all abilities, nationalities, and sexual orientations.

This club used its grant to host an umpire and coaching session, to reward its dedicated and hard-working volunteer workforce, and inspire them to support further participation in netball.

This program provides a great opportunity for clubs and organisations to extend equitable access to, and use of, community sports infrastructure, and build participants’ skills and knowledge.

“We know locally there is some important work across many clubs and organisations in supporting women and girls to both participate and lead. I encourage eligible local clubs and organisations to consider applying for these grants to help support this great and ongoing work.”

“Sport and recreation organisations are a big part of our local community, bringing us together, and driving positive change, and that’s why this Program is so important.”
