Local Diamond Creek sporting clubs have scored with a new electronic scoreboard at Marngrook Oval and irrigation system at Diamond Creek Bowls Club.

Member for Eltham Vicki Ward visited the venues to officially launch the new facilities, made possible by a more than $27,000 investment from the Victorian Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

Nillumbik Shire is one of Melbourne’s booming sport areas and home to several clubs. In the case of the Diamond Creek Demons football and netball teams they have more than 1,400 participants signed up to play at Marngrook Oval.

The new electronic scoreboard adds a whole new dimension to the player and fan experience at the ground. Fans and players can keep up with all latest from the big games.

At Diamond Creek Bowling Club, the new irrigation system will improve the sustainability of the club’s greens allowing for more barefoot, competition and bowls development programs to be hosted at the venue all year round.

The Victorian Budget 2022/23 provided $88 million to deliver new and improved community sports infrastructure and programs to boost participation in local sports clubs and organisations.

Investments like these are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, levelling the playing field, and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.

Vicki Ward MP acknowledged Nillumbik Shire Council for its commitment and financial contribution to the projects.
